Save Money On Your Florida Car Insurance Coverage During Covid19

Should You Cancel Your Florida Car Insurance During The Pandemic?

The short answer is absolutely not!

Not only is car insurance required in the state of Florida, but if you have to make an emergency run to the grocery store, or even simply move your car from one spot in your driveway to the other--you will want to be covered.

So while we do not recommend canceling your coverage, you can, and probably should adjust your coverage if your commute has significantly changed since the onset of the Covid19 pandemic.

Many Americans who are part of the traditional workforce have found themselves working from home, working fewer hours, and/or unemployed. Each of these scenarios can translate to a significant reduction in your daily driving habits.

Meaning that you should review your car insurance policy and see how you can reduce your monthly insurance premium.

Are Car Insurance Companies in Florida Offering Specials Because of The Pandemic?

While most insurance companies are not explicitly advertising that you can reduce your coverage during this time, you will find in some cases that there are reductions available to you as a member. You will have to check with your carrier to determine the reductions available to you, but it is worth looking into.

The One Insurance Coverage That You Don't Want To Drop

Whatever, you do, make sure that you don't drop your uninsured motorist coverage. This coverage protects you, your family and passengers in the event that you are in an accident with one of the millions of Florida drivers who don't carry insurance to protect those who they injure in car accidents.

Instead of canceling your uninsured motorist coverage, look to possibly increasing the amount of your deductible, or even lowering your other coverages like bodily injury or property damage. If you are on the road less, the chances of you causing an accident are decreased, but you have to decide for yourself what is the best option for you.
